Jehovah's Witnesses: Can you answer my Question about your faith? Christians may answer too.?
Could Jehovah die?…a follow up question of my previous…to get a clear answer. I will use text from the JW NWT in fairness. Jesus Christ was Eternal before His life on earth. Why? Heb 9:14 says that Christ offered Himself through (an) Everlasting spirit [NWT]. Other translations…The Everlasting Spirit which is the Spirit of God, while NWT…“an everlasting spirit” in attribution to Jesus. Jehovah’s Witnesses(JW)s believe that Jehovah could not die…He is The Everlasting Spirit while Jesus only had a perishable spirit and could die. Now the word Everlasting or Eternal means “never ending”- no mater if or if not there is a starting point- never ending means no end or stopping point. In Heb 7:1-3 it says that Melchizedek was “made like” the Son of God having no beginning of days nor ending of life [NWT]. To Jesus “You are a priest forever according to the manner of Melchizedek” [Heb 7:17. NWT]. A JW may argue “It is about His priesthood being forever”. However…Heb 7:3 says…Melchizedek was “made” like The Son of God(Jesus). But in what way? Surely not the priesthood seeing that in Heb 7:17 …Jesus was made…to the priesthood of Melchizedek. We must ume it is concerning the Spirit/life of Jesus. Before Christ came to earth as a man Melchizedek was made like the Preexistent Son in a spiritual sense…no beginning…nor ending of life. Melchizedek came to earth before Jesus Gen 14:18 yet he was “made like” Jesus‘ life…no origin nor end. Therefore the spirit/life leaves the body and the body is without spirit/life (dead) but the spirit lives on. That’s how Jesus/Jehovah dwelled in a fleshly body and was able to die in His natural(earthly) being. Because His Spirit is Eternal He was able to raise up His own body Jn 2:19, Jn 10:17, and Live in it forever and ever raising also those who believe in Him due to His own Spirit in them and His sacrifice for us. BTW: I am a Christian who believes in the deity of Christ…not the Trinity doctrine so…for my beliefs please E-mail me.
