Their is sound coming out of my speakers?

im not running any programs or videos or music, their isnt even an internet explorer page running, but their is sound coming from my speakers, like a radio station. its the news going on about the czech prime minister or something... is it a virus? please help, i cant mute it!!! how can i get rid of it?
