Does God really care if you use his name in vain or blaspheme?

Is he/she going to wash your mouth out with soap a la Georgia Rules? Or get you to spend an extra day in purgatory? Does God really care? He gave us the power to use our vocal chords (maybe) so if we slander, wouldn't he be pleased that at least we are using what has been God given?
