How is the first part of the first chapter on my book? Feel free to be ruthless. Just tell me WHY!?

It sounds good. Watch out for being overly wordy. Other than that, it seems like a great story. I'd love to read more. :) Part of it got cut off at the end just as I wanted to read more. It definitely hooked me on the spot.
